The Book

Meet Luigi & Hermosa

Luigi has lots of hair. Hermosa has hardly any. But these two very different dogs are the very best of friends.

Together, they explore Fredericksburg, enjoying adventures and dreaming of the new dog park. While Luigi can't wait to make new friends, Hermosa worries the other dogs won't like her because she has no hair. When things don't go quite as planned, Luigi finds a wonderfully unexpected way to remind Hermosa what really matters.

A mother-daughter collaboration

Made with love, and a lot of imagination.

Camille Cohn wrote Luigi & Hermosa, inspired by two real dogs and their hometown of Fredericksburg, Texas.

Riley Cohn is an award-winning illustrator on the autism spectrum whose distinctive artwork brings the characters and their world to life. She has illustrated two other children's books, Martin in the Narthex and Cooper and the Big Apple, and is the recipient of a Moonbeam Children's Book Award.

For Riley, this book is also a bridge to connection. Just as Luigi helps Hermosa find the confidence to be herself, Luigi & Hermosa gives Riley something meaningful to share, opening doors to conversations, friendships, and connections with others.

A story that gives back

More than a book.

Luigi and Hermosa dream of a place where dogs can run, play, and make friends. Their story celebrates the same sense of belonging that inspires the Fredericksburg Dog Park.

Profits from the book will be shared between Riley and the Fredericksburg Dog Park Association, helping support the next phase of the community dog park at Lady Bird Johnson Municipal Park.
